Basket Coiling Workshop - June 1st - Sunday

Basket Coiling Workshop - June 1st - Sunday
The art of basket making is beautiful and varied. Among the vast variety of techniques is coiling. Coiling is remarkable for its flexibility of materials, whether it’s grasses and natural fibres or waste materials such as recycled clothes, discarded netting, or leftover rope.
Even within the art of coiling there are many different approaches and each one will create different patterns and constructions. The method this workshop teaches is a basic technique that produces a spiral pattern in a mini basket of medium strength.
This is a casual workshop to engage the community, that will predominantly be on the ground (although chairs/tables will be available). There is a lot of teaching at the start, then you can go find a quiet corner and weave away. You are welcome to come and go as you please throughout the 3 hr workshop, but Morgan will always be there to guide you.
